Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Western Art History


The Graduate Institute of Art History of NTNU invites applications for an open-rank full-time position as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the History of Western Art, commensurate with qualifications and experience, to start August 1, 2018.

The Graduate Institute of Art History (GIAH), founded in 2008, is committed to the highest international standards in both research and education. The Institute has two prolific programs of Western and Eastern Art History with close attention paid to intercultural issues. The Western Art History Program mainly comprises European art and architectural history from the late Middle Ages to the present. Instruction in Western Art History is in English and Chinese. We seek candidates prepared to teach a range of courses within the framework of the Institute’s western art history curriculum. Applicants whose scholarship and teaching demonstrate a perspective and an awareness of intercultural issues are especially welcome.

 

The appointee should hold a Ph.D. degree before taking up the appointment. Responsibilities of the position include active pursuit of teaching as well as high-level research and publication. Teaching experience is desired. Applicants must be able to teach in English or Chinese.

 

 

Application documents of first employment for full-time faculty required by the College of Arts, National Taiwan Normal University

 

Except for applicants, who just obtained their PhD degree, the candidate should satisfy at least one of the following two requirements:

 

  1. A minimum of two peer-reviewed academic papers—as first or corresponding author—published or accepted for publication (proof of acceptance required) in the last three years and listed in one of the following science citation indexes: Science Citation Index (SCI), Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), Taiwan Social Science Citation Index (TSSCI), Engineering Index (EI), Arts and Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI), Taiwan Humanities Citation Index (THCI, or THCI Core before 2016);

or one peer-reviewed academic book published within the last three years (proof of review and acceptance for publication required).

  1. Hosting at least two research projects granted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST; formerly National Science Council [NSC]) or by other national governmental organizations in the last three years.

 

One paper or book mentioned above in § 1 can replace one project mentioned under § 2 and vice versa. Candidates who meet the requirements of § 2, still have to provide publications that meet the standards listed in § 1.

Candidates from foreign countries may submit papers, published in peer-reviewed periodicals as equivalent to meet the requirements of § 1.

3.      Sample syllabi for courses;

4.      Photocopy of Ph.D. diploma;

5.      Copy of academic papers (or proof of acceptance) with  note of citation index;

6.      Other proofs of the qualification.
