The Institute comprised the former Divisions of Chinese Art History and of Western Art History, both then parts of the Department of Fine Arts at NTNU. The two divisions, with their long histories, were then joined together as the independent <em>Graduate Institute of Art History<\/em> that is now part of the College of Arts at NTNU.
