Every idea you take from the literature, must be indicated.<br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Quote correctly! Check the quote after having copied it from the source.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Double quotation marks \u2013 \u201c\u2026.\u201d \u2013 and footnote.<br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A quote that is longer than three lines should be indented (1 cm left and right)<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Example:<\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThere is no wealth but life. Life, including all its powers of love, of joy, and of admiration. That country is the richest which nourishes the greatest number of noble and happy human beings; that man is richest who, having perfected the function of his own life to the utmost, has always the widest helpful influence, both personal, and by means of his possessions, over the lives of others.\u201d<sup>1<\/sup><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">________________________________<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><sup>1<\/sup>\u00a0John Ruskin, \u201cUnto the Last (written and first published, 1860),\u201d in: E.T. Cook and Alexander Wedderburn, eds., The Works of John Ruskin, London: George Allen, 1905, p. 105.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you quote literally, you have to refer to or discuss the contents of the quotation.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Do not quote, because you are not able to find the right words. For example, do not substitute your own description and analysis of a work of art with a text from secondary literature.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you quote an original source after secondary literature (only if there is no scholarly critical edition) you have to indicate that in the note as \u201cquoted after \u2026\u201d or \u201cquoted from \u2026 .\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Better quote from original sources, if possible, such as from critical editions.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you quote from translations of original sources, you have to indicate that.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you translate the quote yourself, you have to indicate that:<\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201ctranslation mine\u201d<br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cif not otherwise indicated, all translations of the quotes are mine\u201d<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The punctuation mark is always <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>before<\/strong><\/span> the last quotation mark.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cLearning from the existing landscape is a way of being revolutionary for an architect.
