Exchange / Visiting Student
Welcome, students from around the world! We are delighted to share the beauty of art with you. Our institute is located in the heart of Taipei, offering a prime location with a tranquil environment. We provide a rich selection of art history courses for students to explore.
- The Eastern Art Program offers comprehensive courses on East Asian art history, covering Taiwan, China, Japan, and Korea. Our curriculum spans from ancient to modern times, including architecture, artifacts, calligraphy, and painting.
- The Western Art Program provides courses on art history from the Renaissance to contemporary times, covering architecture, sculpture, painting, curatorial studies, cultural heritage preservation, and emerging media arts such as sound art.
Before applying for an exchange program with our institute, please consider the following suggestions:

Check your home university’s exchange agreements: Ensure that your university has an exchange agreement with our institute, college or university.

Language Requirements:
- If you wish to take courses in the Eastern Art History Program, a sufficient level of Mandarin proficiency is required. Most courses in this program are conducted in Mandarin (with only a few exceptions) and involve extensive reading of Chinese texts. We recommend a minimum CEFR B1 level in listening and reading to manage the coursework. If you would like to improve your Mandarin while studying here, we encourage you to explore the courses offered by our Mandarin Training Center: http://www.mtc.ntnu.edu.tw/.
- If you wish to take courses in the Western Art History Program, a sufficient level of English proficiency is required. Most courses in this program are taught in English (with only a few exceptions). We recommend a minimum CEFR B1 level in listening, reading, and writing (B2 is preferred) to fully engage with the coursework.
